What makes a part truly functional
A functional part has to survive its environment and perform its job without failing. That means:
• Choosing the right polymer — PETG for general functional and outdoor parts, ABS/ASA for heat and chemical resistance, Nylon for high mechanical loads, Nylon-CF for maximum stiffness, TPU for flexible or sealing applications. • Setting the right infill density — 20–40% for moderate loads, 60–80% for structural parts, 100% solid for load-bearing contacts. • Orienting the part for the dominant load direction — layer adhesion is always the weak axis in FDM.
We make all three decisions for you in the quoting stage. If a geometry won't survive the application in FDM, we'll say so before printing it.
